Walla Walla 150th Celebrations

Walla Walla’s Sesquicentennial

Celebrating the Journey”

Walla Walla will celebrate its 150th Anniversary (sesquicentennial) in 2019 and planning is well underway to ensure this exciting milestone is celebrated in style. For those who can remember any of the previous celebrations (90th, 100th, and 125th) this one also promises not to disappoint.

In October 2018 a group of around 90 people got the celebrations underway by following in the footsteps of the original trek journey that the early settlers travelled in 1868. This was a self-drive event from Ebenezer in South Australia to Walla Walla and coincided with the approximate date 150 years ago when the original settlers started their trek to New South Wales. The event was a huge success and is a great stepping stone to the major weekend of celebrations planned for 25-28 January 2019. These celebrations will include a range of entertainment, the Greater Hume Council Australia Day Ceremony, German style food and beer, thanksgiving celebration, community picnic lunch, a street parade and much more.

A book is also being produced which will be a pictorial recollection of the journey our town has been on for the last 150 years and will be ready for sale by the end of 2018.
