Walla Walla 150th Celebrations

Walla Walla’s Sesquicentennial

Celebrating the Journey”

Walla Walla will celebrate its 150th Anniversary (sesquicentennial) in 2019 and planning is well underway to ensure this exciting milestone is celebrated in style. For those who can remember any of the previous celebrations (90th, 100th, 125th) this one also promises not to disappoint.

The organising committee has commenced scheduling the celebrations with the major events taking place from 25 to 28 January 2019. These celebrations will include a range of entertainment including the Greater Hume Shire Australia Day event, Oktoberfest style food and beer, ecumenical church service, community picnic lunch, a street parade and much more. Other events include a launch event on 12 November 2017 and ball/dance in November 2019.

Planning is also underway for a trip from Ebenezer, South Australia to Walla Walla to follow in the footsteps of the original trek journey that the early settlers travelled in 1868. This is likely to occur in October of 2018 and promises to be an interesting tour for those who are able to come along for the ride.

A book is being produced which will be a pictorial recollection of the journey our town has been on for the last 150 years and will be ready for sale by the end of 2018.

Further details of all events etc will be forthcoming as plans progress, so keep an eye out for them on this page. The organising committee meets 7:30 pm the first Wednesday of each month in the Walla Walla Town Hall. If you would like to be involved then please come along to any of our meetings.
